MLF, in association with Manchester Metropolitan University and Renaissance One, present one of the literary greats of our time, Caryl Phillips. He will be discussing his new book In the Falling Snow, a brilliant and penetrating story of contemporary, multicultural Britain, which tells the story of Keith, a social worker who, following an affair with a colleague, finds himself living alone a few streets away from his wife, and his teenage son who seems to have become involved with street gangs and a world entirely alien to them. Caryl Phillips is a Professor of English at Yale University. He is the author of twelve works of fiction and non-fiction. Crossing the River was shortlisted for the Booker Prize, A Distant Shore won the Commonwealth Writers' Prize, and he is a winner of a Guggenheim Fellowship, as well as being named the Sunday Times Writer of the Year 1992 and one of the Best of Young British Writers 1993.
