Featuring Peter Robinson, Michael Symmons Roberts, Jon Glover, Jeffrey Wainwright, Fleur Adcock & Robert Sheppard. Join an all-star line-up to pay tribute to one of the great poets. Roy Fisher has been writing for half a century and his more recent works include the long poem A Furnace, Poems 1955-1987 and The Dow Low Drop. He has been called ‘the most appreciated under-appreciated poet we have’ and has ‘long been known for being unknown’. At the same time his work has been championed by, among many others, Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy. In his eightieth year, this event aims to show just how important and influential a poet Fisher really is. Fans and friends of Fisher will each read and discuss a poem of his. After the individual presentations there will be a short general discussion on Fisher’s place in the contemporary poetry world.
