Description:

From the venue: 'The Mark Addy originally opened in 1981 and is named after the Victorian local hero who died in 1890 at the age of 51. He was famous for rescuing no fewer than 50 people from the then dangerous waters of the River Irwell and was the only civilian to have received the Albert Medal (Victoria Cross) from Queen Victoria. The site was originally a boat passenger’s waiting room for the new Bailey landing stage from where a regular packet boat service was in operation from 1807. After the completion of extensive renovation work the Mark Addy re-opened on the 28th October 2009. The spring of 2010 has seen the addition of a new outdoor dining area, complete with a 10ft x 8ft steel barbeque and spit, just in time for a packed programme of summer events! Whatever the weather the Mark Addy is available for Private Functions of all kinds including Weddings, Birthdays, Bar Mitzvahs and Christenings as well as Corporate Events such as Retirement Celebrations and Staff Parties.'
